Introduction
Device Manager controls all the devices on your computer and checks if the devices are working properly or not. Device manager allows you to update, enable, disable, roll back and uninstall a device driver. Windows 7 supports both types of disks i.e. Basic disk and Dynamic Disk. Windows 7 also allows you to convert disk types. You can create partition / volumes using disk management utility.
Driver signing features allows the users to make sure that the software comes from a trusted publisher. Windows 7 provides built in disk management tool to resize the disk partitions. Resizing of a disk partition includes shrink and expand the partitions. System information tool also known as msinfo32.

Device manager in Windows 7 used to manage system resources for the hardware on your computer. Device manager updates the device drivers (Device driver is the software
through which all the devices communicate with Windows 7 operating system), resolve the conflicts between the devices and different tasks as well as to troubleshoot the various problems.
Device Manager gives the information such as how devices are integrated and how they are connected to their drivers on your computer. Functions of device drivers are listed below:
- Identify all the device drivers that are installed for the devices.
- Give the information about each device driver on your computer which is running
on Windows 7 operating system.
- Enable, disable and uninstall the devices from a particular computer.
- Monitor the hardware on your computer to check whether the hardware is working properly or not.
- Modify the hardware configuration settings.
- Change the advanced settings and properties of a device.
- Install the updated device drivers for a specific device.
- Provide the facility to roll back the previous version of the driver,
- if the updates will cause any issues on your computer.
- Allow viewing the devices based on their types or connection to the computer or the resources used by the devices.
- Show or hide the hidden devices.
