Monitor
A monitor is like a television that displays text and graphics on the screen. The monitor is an output device that displays on the screen the information that is requested by the user from the system. Video adapters are responsible for delivering the images to the monitor; the images are displayed on the monitor using a variety of colors. They also give images a realistic feel and look.
Types of Monitors
Monitors are classified based on the technology that they use to display images such as the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT), Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Thin Film Transistor (TFT), Plasma and LED.
Cathode ray tube
The Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitor is an economical monitor used on most systems. CRT is the heart of the computer, which follows the principle of using an electronic screen. The CRT monitor displays images with colors that are consistent and can be viewed comfortably from different angles. The CRT monitor is useful for displaying and working with graphics and photographs where color plays an important role. CRT monitors are available with curved or flat screens.
Liquid crystal display
The LCD Monitor are thin and use little space they are light in weight or consume less energy and it is used in laptop microwave ovens. The picture on the LCD Monitor does not flicker and thus reduce eyestrain becouse the whole image is drawn at once on the LCD screen. The LCD monitor is also available for desktop use
Tine film transistor
A TFT monitor uses Thin-Film Transistor technology TFT LCDs is a type of active matrix LCD. Nowadays, LCD monitor uses TFT technology in which a separate tiny transistor is used for each pixel on the display. The size of each transistor is very small. So the amount of charge needed to control the transistor is also small. This allows faster re-drawing of the image. A TFT monitor displays sharp text excellent colors and an improved response time for multimedia applications.
Light emitting diode
LED computer monitor has been mainly appreciated for its low power and consumption and its great performance which has been considered as perfect for office type of productivity This computer monitor has been considered to include a very efficient type of power supply and a very low power consumption of less than 1.5 Watts in standby mode. Its contrast ratio, which has been evaluated at 1000:1 and its dynamic type of contrast ratio which is of 1000000:1.
LED monitor is the new version of LCD monitor, which uses LEDs to illuminate the display now only Samsung and LG are manufacturing LED Monitor in monitor in market. It works like LCD but its backlight is different. LED monitor use LED backlight replacing the standard cold cathode fluorescent lamps which was used in LCD monitor.
It is latest version of LCD monitor minimum power consumes better performance it stand made 1.5 watt. It work like that LCD but back light is different

Size
The size of the monitor specifies the length of the monitor in inches. Monitors are available in different sizes ranging from 14 inches to 24inches.the size of the monitor are available in different size ranging from 14 inches to 24 inches. The size of the monitor is measured diagonally
Resolution
Newspapers have pictures displayed in them. If you have a closer look at the picture, you will find that the picture consists of tiny dots. The monitor screen also displays text and graphics like the newspaper using tiny dots known as pixels
Pixels in an Image The more the dots, the higher the resolution, sharper and cleaner image will be displayed on the screen. The resolution of the monitor is measured using two numbers. The first number is the horizontal resolution or the number of individual pixels drawn from the left side of the screen to the right. The second number is the vertical resolution, or the number of pixels or scan lines drawn from the top to the bottom of the screen. Generally the higher the native resolution of a set, the sharper the picture. For example, if the resolution is specified as 640 x 480, this means that the monitor can display 640 dots on one line and can also display 480 lines on the screen. Monitors that are set to high-resolution, display more information on the screen by decreasing the size of the image. A low-resolution monitor shows less information on the screen by increasing the size of the image.
Contrast Ratio
The latest craze in the video industry is to play with contrast performance numbers. Contrast Ratio is the comparison to the whitest white color to the darkest black a set can produce. This will be reported as a ratio such as 5000:1 or 10,000:1. A contrast rating of say 5000:1 Would imply that the black level is 5000 times darker than the white.
